Starnes Talks Contracts
Chief Executive Martyn Starnes has talked about offering Gary Johnson a new deal and likened the gaffer to Merlin the Wizard.
Speaking to the BBC Starnes exclaimed.
'He's a magician isn't he? I don't know where he gets his magic wand from But it's certainly been working this season.'
Johnson is a little less dramatic in talking about yet another successful period at Yeovil for him.
'Sometimes clubs just need a spark. People trust you because it went well before. You're in credit. You say a joke it's funny, all of a sudden the crowd start wearing their colours again, they make a bit more noise. People say the right things and everyone is a bit happier.'
Such a simple summation but very accurate in football, having credit in the bank for when things do go wrong buys you patience and time and helps keep the fans behind you, and with a lively crowd, the players gain confidence and then try things they normally wouldn't.
Eventually that clicks and results go your way, and really since Johnson returned that's pretty much how it goes. The new manager syndrome doesn't just affect players in their efforts, it affects the crowd in theirs.
