Johnson Will Toast That
Gary Johnson is like a kid at Christmas tonight having seen Yeovil pick up our second win of the season and in some style against Nottingham Forest today.
Yeovil uncharacteristically took a two goal lead in the first half thanks to a brace from Ed Upson, and although Forest grabbed themselves a goal just before the break, that didn't interrupt our drive or determination on the day and we came out as worthy three one winners, as Webster regained our two goal advantage just before the break.
Speaking to the press following the game, like many, Johnson picked out the performance of on loan Wolves and Welsh international keeper Wayne Hennessey for a string of mighty fine saves, along with a penalty save from Simon Cox.
The result was even sweeter for Johnson because he describes Forest as a Premiership side in the waiting.
'It was a fantastic result, we're new to this level, but the boys have been unlucky in a few games and I keep saying we're good enough to compete with these teams. Hopefully this will push us on, it was a great first half attacking display, then a great defensive display in the second.'
Johnson praises the players for maintaining their belief and their confidence, especially as we have been unlucky at points and it would've been easy for them to resign from the task at hand, but instead they have responded properly and have tried to create their own luck and that certainly worked today.
As for Hennessey directly, Johnson went on to describe him as a great goalkeeper and that's exactly what Wolves and Wales appreciate also.
We all hoped we'd kick on following the opening day win against Millwall, but fingers crossed this is now the catalyst for us to get on a proper unbeaten run and a few more wins to boot.
