Johnson Looking To Better Our Leeds Record

Johnson Looking To Better Our Leeds Record

Manager Gary Johnson has looked at the history books of our ten years in the Football League and decided he'll hide it from the players.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post ahead of our trip to Elland Road, our record against Leeds stands at one point in six encounters - the last two visits to their ground also ended as four nil defeats.

'It's a massive test but we have to hit it head on, that's where mental toughness comes in. You've got to be ready to handle the partisan atmosphere and quieten it early. We've got to be ready for that and we've got to believe that we deserve to be there.'

We clearly deserve to be there following our promotion and form, and even though not every result has gone for us so far this season, performances on the whole have been promising and we have been improving, and the squad should've taken a lot of belief from the Nottingham Forest win.

As for the record itself, Johnson actually played it down as clearly history is history and has very little bearing on the now, but he did joke that he was going to keep it a secret from the players but if they hear about it then it doesn't matter or put pressure on them because 'nobody's done anything there before'.

It would certainly be nice to make that four points from seven encounters though and back to back wins would be absolutely brilliant for the club, as would be extending our unbeaten run to three matches.

Obviously a point won't be sniffed at and may lift us out of the bottom three depending on Bolton's result and goal difference, but all three points would make much happier league table reading for everyone at the club.
