Like A New Signing?
Remember Nathan Ralph? He's only young but was involved last season before injury set him back, with him only just returning from his knee injury that caused him some problems to recover from.
Ralph's recovery definitely isn't full yet but he's managed to battle his way back from two operations to be in a position where he's back on the training pitch, with him now kicking a football for the first time since April last year.
Gary Johnson took a punt on the teenager when he returned to The Glovers, he knew him from his time as manager of Peterborough, and he started brightly enough but then he got sidelined due to injury and he missed his chance of helping us to promotion last season, which we of course managed anyway.
His contract is up at the end of the month and he's told The Western Gazette that he knows he's got to impress Johnson, and quickly, on the training pitch if he wants to extend his spell at Huish Park and that's definitely his aim.
The odd twinge here and there is something you'd expect, and he's admitted he's already felt this, but having shown the fight and determination to battle back if it's a financially viable option and Ralph is going to be in a position where he can offer us something on the pitch I've got this feeling that Johnson will take another punt on him and give him until the summer to prove he's worthy of something longer.
Ralph did praise the support that Johnson has given him and knows that he could have quite easily been told to move on but the club have supported him all the way and encouraged his recovery so if he can do enough to get back to full fitness, or at least can do during the coming month, the versatile left footer could be like a new signing couldn't he.
