Yeovil Back Out Of Premier Cup
There were previous Premier Cup issues when it comes to applicable suspensions and the like, but given our current position in the Championship table, Yeovil have prioritised our league safety over continued involvement in the Somerset competition.
The club says the decision is regrettable and unavoidable, but we will now be unable to fulfil our scheduled fixture against Frome Town later this month.
The announcement from the club says.
'With the club in a delicate situation in the Championship it's imperative they endeavour to retain their membership of that league. With a very small squad of players, no reserve or youth playersm the club have been plagued with injuries this season.'
Therefore to attempt to fulfil a combined total of 20 league games in less than 13 weeks, the club feels it has no option but to back out of any additionally agreed games in order to give the first team the best chance it has of survival.
Yeovil add they also didn't wish to embarrass or complicate life for the Somerset FA or Frome Town by bringing in non contract players just to fulfil this game, and with the monetary loss to Frome following the decision the club will organise a pre season friendly at Badgers Hill at the start of the 2014-15 season where they will retain all proceeds.
