'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wembley Hero Foley Joins Shrews

Last seasons 'Wembley hero' Sam Foley has been allowed to move away from Huish Park after struggling to make the step up to SkyBet Championship level with him going back to SkyBet League 1 level to join Shrewsbury.

Foley will spent the next 28-days with the Shrews.

Gary Johnson has told The Western Gazette that he feels this is a loan move that he needed as he needs to play some first team football, with him limited to just seven appearances this season.

His time with us isn't over though but Johnson concedes that he's found the step up to the SkyBet Championship a difficult one but will come back after this loan and with a decision on how to move forward made.

'We think he needs games. He's gone to Shrewsbury on a 28-day loan and when he plays those games he will come back, ready for that run-in.

'He's got another year left on his contract. We've been looking after him and he'll be the first to admit he hasn't been able to get in the first team.

You've got to do that first and then affect the game in the Championship. He hasn't really consistently picked up Championship legs just yet, but it was a massive jump for him as well.'

His future probably depends on what league we're in next season, if we get relegation I'd expect him to stay with us and play a part next season but if we can avoid relegation then his future might have to lie away from Huish Park on a permanent basis.

This loan will do him good though.

Joey Jones has also gone out on loan again, he's returned to Woking after his previous loan was cut short due to him being suspended.
