'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Johnson - We Now Have A Huge Summer

Following on from our defeat last night and the acceptance that we are back in League One, manager Gary Johnson has admitted he has a huge summer ahead of him and he won't be the only voice in that, because with so many players out of contract, he knows some of them may fancy their chances of a new club back in the Championship.

Predicting a 'big summer' ahead for himself and the club as a whole when speaking to the Western Gazette the gaffer explained.

'There's got to be a lot discussions. First we have got to know what we can bring in, who's staying and going. Everyone's got to look at the plight and their situation and whether that needs to carry on or wants to carry on. There's a lot that's got to happen. It will be a big summer for the football club and only until those discussions have been made can we see what the future holds.'

Contracted to the club for next season I believe we only have Joe Edwards, Kevin Dawson, Sam Foley, Sam Hoskins, Matteo Lanzoni, Joel Grant and Kieffer Moore.

Obviously that's a big block of players who will be wondering whether they have the opportunity to take another stab one level up given their performances this campaign - and equally with revenue dropping owing to relegation, there is also the issue of have any of those under contract impressed enough for another club to try and tempt a boost to our coffers for their services?

You would imagine the summer will bring plenty of uncertainty, contradiction and rumour as things play their own ways out.
