Summer Plans Take Shape

Manager Gary Johnson has confirmed that the club have now offered new contracts and fresh terms to those players who are out of contract in the summer that we want to move forward with.

Speaking to the Western Gazette with the vast majority of the squad out of contract and a huge exodus of players expected, Johnson admitted that he had now spoken to those he wants to remain at the club for our League One campaign and with those players now knowing their offer, he'll give them a bit to think and then a deadline will be set for acceptance.

'The situation us we have made offers to the people we have to make offers to because then it stops you having to pay them in July if you haven't offered them a deal - that's why you make them an offer. They you have to wait and see.'

With a deadline still to be set for the 'yes or no' answers, Johnson acknowledges that players won't have too long to decide because if the answer is no ultimately, the club have to move on and put other plans in place, as at the moment the gaffer will be looking at targets to replace those he knows will be moving on or those he knows will improve us, so for any players he wants to keep, if they aren't staying, then he needs to plug the gap they will leave as well.
