Midfielder Not On Johnson's List

Midfielder Not On Johnson's List

We'll have plenty of reports saying this and that player will be coming to Huish Park this summer as we look to rebuild our squad for the SkyBet League 1 season but Wade Elliott isn't going to be one of them.

Gary Johnson has told The Western Gazette that he'll be keeping his cards close to his chest as the minute he starts publicly commenting on players that reports link us with the more likely it becomes we'll miss out on them with rivals making moves.

He'll not be conducting much business, or at least commenting, towards new arrivals until later in the summer or even as pre-season arrives.

35 year old free agent Elliott isn't on his list though.

A permanent move to Bristol City desired, and expected. Johnson feels that perhaps our name have been thrown into the mix in order to either increase interest or maybe even increase the offer made to him?

Elliott isn't wanted though and following his release by Birmingham City, who just managed to avoid SkyBet Championship relegation in dramatic fashion, he isn't coming to Huish Park.

Unfortunately the price we'll pay for our own SkyBet Championship relegation is almost certain to cost us key trio Marek Stech, Byrom Webster and Luke Ayling.

Despite being offered new contracts by Johnson all three are expected to leave, Stech has made this more than clear and already has his agency working on an exit strategy in order to save his international career, which has just started with him handed his maiden Czech Republic call up.
