Interest In Webster Intensifies

Interest In Webster Intensifies

We can now be assured that Byron Webster isn't going to be staying in the SkyBet League 1 next season as Scunthorpe United's reported interest has cooled but plenty of interest is being shown in him from SkyBet Championship sides anyway.

Webster was a player that Gary Johnson desperately wanted to keep, we all did, but a player of his quality belongs at a higher level so it's little wonder he turned down a new contract and that so many clubs are looking to hold talks with him.

Millwall have reportedly spoken to him this week with further reports saying that talks will be taking place with Rotherham United next week, Ipswich Town and Leeds United also retain a keen interest in the 27 year old.

A return north is something that Webster is believed to fancy.

That would leave Rotherham and Leeds in the driving seat with a return to Elland Road, where he was a youth player, likely to be something he isn't going to be able to refuse as Rotherham might find it harder to stay in the SkyBet Championship but on the other hand Leeds would be looking to go up to the Barclays Premier League.

Either way that might leave Webster in the same position next summer, wanting to move on but the difference would be he would then be under contract and it might not be as easy to do this, then again this isn't our worry is it!
