'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gillett And Co Will Get Another Chance

Gary Johnson will give Simon Gillett, and other trialists a further chance to prove they are worthy of a Glovers deal after he, and others, turned out in the draw with Reading on Saturday.

Speaking, I assume, about most of the trialists Johnson did refer to Gillette in particular when talking on The Official Website following the draw 1-1 with our former SkyBet Championship opponents.

The decision is now down to the former Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest midfielder.

'We needed that type of player today (Saturday) so we gave him an opportunity to show us what he can do.

'If he wants to stick around for a little while longer I'm sure he will get that opportunity to keep impressing.

'We won't make that decision after a day and a bit. I know him very well, he's played against my teams many times and he's still got something in there that can help someone and it could be us.'

Gillette has much experience in the SkyBet Championship and SkyBet League 1 but didn't enjoy too much success with Nottingham Forest, who released him this summer, making as many performances for them in two years as he did Bristol City in a loan last season.

Much will depend on his wage demands but if he wants to hang around and continue to impress us then he could earn a contract at Huish Park.

Another who could do this is French striker Achille Campion?

He previously had a two week trial with Sheffield Wednesday this summer but didn't earn a deal. Campion is believed to have turned out for us a couple of times this pre season and claims have been made on Twitter that he in action for us and was also the goalscorer in the draw with Reading on Saturday.

Whatever trialists are happy to remain with us should feature again on Tuesday.
