Glovers Beaten In Final Home Friendly

Glovers Beaten In Final Home Friendly

Things were looking good for The Glovers with our final pre season friendly at Huish Park looking as though it would end in victory against SkyBet Championship side Cardiff City but their second half show saw them go away with a 4-1 win.

A win came at a price for them though with a couple of first team players injured.

Continuing his pre season form, which if he carries this forward into the SkyBet League 1 season he'll look like an even better signing, AJ Leitch-Smith had given us a half time lead to score his sixth goal of pre season.

A clash between Ben Turner and David Marshall allowed Leitch-Smith to tap in with the Cardiff goalkeeper Marshall having to come off immediately and Turner coming off a little later.

Two goals from second half substitute Kenwyne Jones and others from Adam Le Fondre and Matt Connolly turned the game around in the second half though with the Welsh side heading back to Cardiff, and their army of followers, happy with a good win.

Gary Johnson didn't look at three of his four trialists so it would look as though a decision had been made, unless the away games against Plymouth Argyle, Truro and Dorchester Town give them another chance before the new season kicks off in less than two weeks now.
