Glovers Win At Plymouth

The final steps of our pre season campaign have taken us to Devon for a mini Cornish training camp, which involves games against Plymouth Argyle and Truro City.

SkyBet League 2 side Plymouth were faced at Home Park on Wednesday and we came away with a 2-1 win.

Against his former side Rueben Reid was always going to be keen to impress and you could say that he did this after he worked himself an opening before firing past Chris Weale in The Glovers goal to give Plymouth the lead.

If Reid's goal was good then Liam Davis certainly better this when he brought us level. Some 20 yards out, having collected the ball, he surveyed the situation and decided to have a go himself with his curler giving Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick no chance.

Changes, as is the norm for pre season friendlies, were made as the second half unfolded with one of those that Gary Johnson turned to making an impact. Sam Hoskins saw his effort deflect past McCormack with time running out to give us the win in our penultimate friendly before the SkyBet League 1 season begins.

Glovers: Weale, Twumasi, Smith, Edwards, Sokolik, Martin, Dawson, Foley, Hayter, Moore, Davis.
Subs: Krysiak, Ralph, Nugent, Lanzoni, Brooks, Leitch-Smith, Moloney, Hoskins.

After the game Johnson confirmed the surprising news that Simon Gillett is going to rejoin the squad for training ahead of the Truro game, which you would then expect him to feature in.

The midfielder must have had a change of heart and is now signing for us?
