Glovers 1 Swindon Town 1 - Report
October 18th 2014. 15:00
A former Glover was the man that denied us a big three points as a 10 man Swindon Town side drew 1-1 with us the Glovers at Huish Park in Saturday's SkyBet League 1 meeting.
An early breakthrough almost came our way but Swindon had their goalkeeper to thank. If that had gone in on another afternoon we might have won?
Then again on another afternoon we could have also been down to 10 men ourselves by the time we did go ahead, with the man who put us ahead maybe already having an early bath with him lucky to avoid two yellow cards.
James Hayter had been booked for a late challenge on Yaser Kasim and was lucky not to get a second yellow card when the pair squared up to each other.
Hayter it was though that put us ahead.
After breaking through after a poor clearance a pass to Jordy Hiwula was over hit and forced the Manchester City youngster wide but he kept his calm and showed great composure to pick out Hayter with a perfect pass who picked his spot to put us ahead.
It almost always happens when you come up against former players and former Glover Andy Williams curled Swindon level when he found himself some space and Jack Stephens picked him out in it with a pull back.
Nathan Thompson was the man sent off for Swindon, like Hayter he had been booked earlier in the game for a late challenge and when he picked up his second for a seemingly innocuous incident we had a little over 10 minutes with the advantage.
This wasn't an advantage we could take.
Swindon's 10 men were the ones that actually went closest to coming from behind to win but Nathan Byrne lacked the composure needed as he failed to hit the target when given a good late chance.
I'm not too unhappy with this point, this is a good point against an inform side and is definitely a marked improvement on our last performance and can hopefully give us something to finally build on.
