Glovers 0 Preston 2 - Report
November 29th 2014. 15:00
The Glovers weren't able to do what we had against another SkyBet League 1 promotion challenger recently as Preston North End went away from Huish Park with all three points on Saturday.
We've grown in confidence recently, and performances had certainly improved, but Preston proved too strong for us as an early goal and a late one secured them a 2-0 win with our chances hardly helped by a sending off in the second half.
Preston, who had beaten SkyBet League 1 leaders Bristol City the Saturday before, went into an early lead when we allowed a former player of ours to be left unmarked in the box. Paul Huntington didn't need to be asked twice as he headed past Artur Krysiak.
Krysiak made sure that it didn't get worse with less than half the first half played as he came out quickly to prevent Jermaine Beckford from converting a Paul Gallagher pass, with him capitalising on a Nathan Smith mistake.
This was a game that we were eventually able to grow into and if Sam Foley had taken his chance to draw us level perhaps things would have been different? A good move and build up gave Foley this great chance but he wasn't able to beat Preston goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann.
When Ryan Inniss lunged in on Kyel Reid, but won the ball, Darren Deadman took a dim view of the challenge and produced a straight red card for the Crystal Palace loanee, which meant we had to play the final half an hour or so with only 10 men and that made an already difficult task harder.
This response from the 10 men couldn't be found with a last minute goal securing Preston's win. Kevin Davies sent Gallagher away and left with a one on one with Krysiak the Scottish international made no mistake.
